Should Frank McCourt Give 1 Percent of His Dodger Sale to the Community?

A candidate for the CD 13 seat opening next year thinks so. How will McCourt--and others running--react?

From a posting on the the Los Feliz Ledger website Wednesday:

The Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council (GEPNC) board of governors sent a letter to former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt asking him to set aside $20 million from the recent sale of the Dodgers, roughly 1% of the historic franchises’ sale price, to give to the communities immediately surrounding Dodger Stadium.

In a letter emailed and faxed to McCourt this afternoon, GEPNC President, Jose Sigala, who is a candidate for the Los Angeles City Council, described the funds could be placed in a “Frank McCourt Neighborhood Trust Fund” that would be managed by a board of local businesses and neighborhood council and community leaders working with McCourt and his family to fund “a variety of community based initiates, programs and projects.”
