'Dark Knight Rises' Uneventfully at Vista in Los Feliz

A lone black and white was spotted outside the theater just before the film's first local screening at 1 p.m. Friday just in case.

The Dark Night Rises came to Los Feliz Friday afternoon without apparent commotion.

Some stood in line in the hot sun, waiting to buy tickets for one of the four shows that day.

Others, who'd bought online, cruised through, but only after giving their ticket to theater manager Victor Martinez.

Clad in Batman costume, he greeted everyone who entered the theater.

Martinez told Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch he wasn't "concerned" about a repeat of Thurday night's shooting in Colorado where 12 died at a Dark Knight Rises premiere.

He said, after 25 years, he's got radar for the crazies.

"Besides, you give the cops free popcorn," he added, "And they're on your side."

Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch had checked around noon with LAPD's Northeast Division, which covers the area.

The watch commander Sgt. Edward Perez told us there were no plans to patrol the perimeter,

The historic Vista has just one screen and about 400 seats.

Nonethless, just before 1 p.m. a black and white pulled up next to the theater and parked in the driveway there.

"We're just checking in," one of the officers told us. "We'll be here until we're sent somewhere else."

Later that afternoon, the LAPD did release a statement saying it would have patrols and undercover officers at theaters and other places where people congregate through the weekend.

The moviegoers we talked to weren't worried about any kind of copycat incident.

They seemed simply glad to be moving inside to see their favorite sequel.

The Vista Theatre and the Los Feliz 3 are both owned by Vintage Cinemas.

Vintage Cinemas Vista is located at 4473 Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles 90027.

Screenings of the Dark Knight Rises are daily at 1 p.m., 5 p.m., 8:50 p.m. and 12:15 a.m.

The movie is also screening at Highland Park's Highland Theater, also in the LAPD's Northeast Division.
