Saber, Shepard Fairey to Discuss New Mural Ordinance

Saber joins artist Shepard Fairey for a talk Tuesday downtown about changes to the city's mural laws. Council district reps Jan Perry and Jose Huizar will also participate.

Echo Park native Saber snapped this photo using Instagram Sunday, just after Madonna's half-time show left everyone in a tizzy.

We saw it on Twitter and asked Saber if we could share it.

The graffiti artist recently made his own mark on the heavens, sky-writing cheeky messages above City Hall.

On Tuesday, Saber joins Echo Park artist and entrepreneur Shepard Fairey for a talk at downtown's LALA Gallery 1335 Willow St. LA CA at 7 p.m.

Council District 9 rep and mayoral candidate Jan Pery as well as Council District 14 rep Jose Huizar will also participate.

They'll start by considering what a possible rollback of the city restrictions on murals might mean.

Tanner Blackman of the Planning Department has been organizing similar talks around the city. He says they can go in many directions, bringing together artists and thinkers from different generations.

He says he's particularly excited about this one, the last of a series.
