Last Chance: Echo Park Rec Center Youth Baseball

Our new "Last Chance" feature reminds you about important upcoming deadlines, including the one for Youth Baseball at the Echo Park Recreation Center.

Opening Day at Dodger Stadium is coming soon.

So, too, is Opening Day for Echo Park's Youth Baseball program.

Sign-ups for the leagues for boys and girls aged 5 to 12 close Friday. Play begins soon after.

Have a birth certificate for each child you want to register.

The cost is $50 per participant. Make check or money order payable to "City of Los Angeles."

Rec Center Director Dan Hammett says nearby Lake Street Recreation Center is also offering youth baseball for the first time.

Lake Street will play in the same league as the Echo Park teams, so get ready for a new crosstown rivalry.
