Group Recommendations: Rethinking Glendale Boulevard

Four teams presented their visions of a "new" Glendale corridor at a workshop on Saturday. Here are notes prepared by Josh Post as well as workshop participants' ideas for an "ideal city."

It was a heady time Saturday at the .

Led by urban planner James Rojas, Echo Park and Silver Lake residents forgot their differences in age, education and economy and sat down together to imagine what the Glendale Boulevard gateway could be.

Seated side-by-side along tables, the group got to know the trinkets and tidbits that would be their working materials.

That happened as Rojas had them do hands-on exercise where each imagined in their ideal city.

Co-organizer Josh Post was writing away on a big pad and easel as each person presented their ideas.

You can see his notes in the attached Media Gallery.

Theme words, you'll see, include "open space," "mixed use," "animals" and "access."

Post was writing again after Rojas asked participants to break into teams to create models of their vision for the Glendale Corridor.

Those very important recommendations are also attached.

CD 13's Eric Garcetti dropped by to be part of the process.  We'll have video of him explaining his vision for Glendale shortly.

We've also got a gallery of photos taken by Gary Leonard already on the site.

Josh Post is also a candidate for the Council District 13 seating opening in 2013.

Echo Park Patch's publication of these notes--as well as the blogs he sometimes posts here--should not be seen as an endorsement of his candidacy over others.

We welcome contributions from all candidates for that office and others.
