Choi Campaign Says Garcetti Endorsement Won't Matter in CD 13 Race

A campaign staffer for John Choi, who is running against Mitch O'Farrell for the Los Angeles Council District 13 seat, says Eric Garcetti's last-minute endorsement will not make much difference in the race.

"I think that it is unfortunate that Mr. Garcetti has chosen to align himself with someone under such an ethical cloud," said Mike Shimpock, manager for the Choi campaign.

"So many of Mr. Garcetti's supporters are supporting Mr. Choi. But at this late in the game I don't think it will make much difference," said Shimpock.

Choi's campaign is supported by a number of heavy hitters, including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The campaign has also out fundraised O'Farrell's campaign by a margin of three-to-one, according to the Eastsider.

Choi and O'Farrell have recently engaged in a war of words around campaign finance violations, voter fraud and race-baiting.

At a debate Tuesday, Choi stressed his ability to make things happen in city bureaucracy, while O'Farrell stressed his deep roots in the community.
