Watch Video: Silver Lake Sexual Assault
Police have a suspect in the April 20 incident in custody, but they seek others who saw what happened.
Detective Michelle Gomez of the LAPD Northeast Area Sexual Assault Unit explains in the above video that a sexual assault occurred at about 6 a.m. April 20 on Sunset Boulevard near Benton Way.
Gomez says a woman was walking along Sunset Boulevard between Benton Way and Silver Lake Boulevard when a man joined her.
Surveillance camera video shows the two together.

Gomez says that the man then took the woman into a nearby garage and assaulted her.
She ran away but the man continued to follow her until a passerby called out.

The man is now in custody.
But Gomez and Northeast hope to identify early morning joggers or walkers who may be witnesses.
They urge anyone with information to call (323) 344-5742. The EastsiderLA reports that officers will also be near the Reservoir Friday seeking information.
LAPD's Northeast Division has been moving aggressively to incorporate social media and video into their investigations.
