LAPD Hit Light Pole at Riverside & Los Feliz

The officers were trying to stop a traffic violator, who was not apprehended.

Two Los Angeles Police Department officers from the Northeast Division were injured, though not critically, when their squad car struck a light pole in Los Feliz.

They were trying to pull a driver over for a traffic violation, police said Wednesday.

The crash occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of

Los Feliz Boulevard and Riverside Drive, said LAPD Sgt. Steve
Bailey of the Central Traffic Division.

One of the two officers from the LAPD's Northeast Station was turning around the patrol car after observing a driver commit a traffic violation when the crash occurred, Bailey said.

The squad car jumped a curb and hit a light pole, he said.

Both officers were "OK,'' but were taken to a hospital for observation after being jarred when the cruiser's air bags deployed, Bailey said.

The traffic violator was not apprehended, Bailey said.
