Suspect Arrested in Killing of Homeless Man

The name of the victim still has not been released.

Rampart officers have a suspect in custody after a homeless man was killed in Angeleno Heights near the 101 Freeway Monday.

The suspect is Reginald Rivers, 34, a known resident of several homeless camps in the Downtown and Echo Park areas.

According to Lt. Wes Buhrmester, Rivers was booked without incident near Grand and Cesar Chavez avenues Thursday night, with bail set at $1 million.

The name of the man killed still has not been released, as officials are still trying to contact his next of kin.

The victim is now descirbed as a man in his 40s, who would be familiar to some in the community.
