Two videos posted by LAPD's Northeast Division show how very quickly.
You can see them in the media gallery above.
Two young men were stabbed near the corner of Echo Park and Montana Avenues just after midnight. They were taken to the hospital with minor knife wounds.
At least one of the attackers used homophobic slurs,
Detective Mark Raichel, the lead detective on the case, says no witnesses have stepped forward.
He told Patch that despite the video, the eye-witness information is crucial.
He said the two clips--like most surveillance video--are "down shots," taken from high above street level. He said that makes seeing faces--and identification--difficult.
Raichel said that the speed of the stabbings may also make it hard to find people who saw and understood what was going on.
Anyone with information about the stabbings can contact the Northeast Division Detectives at (323) 344-5751.
