2 Injured in Crash on 5 Freeway

Two men were injured on the shoulder of the Golden State (5) Freeway Saturday, when a motorist crashed his sedan into a pickup stopped with a flat tire.

A 34-year-old Lynwood man was driving a 2008 Dodge pickup truck pulling a utility trailer, and had stopped on the right shoulder due to a flat tire, CHP officials said.

The driver got out of the truck and was standing between the trailer and a wall when a 52-year-old man driving a 2002 Honda sedan veered onto the right shoulder and crashed into the rear of the trailer, CHP officials said. The sedan driver may have had some sort of medical issue just before it struck the other motorist, CHP officers said.
The driver of the Honda had major injuries and was taken to County-USC Medical Center.

The driver of the Dodge truck was also taken to County-USC Medical Center. He sustained moderate injuries.
