5 p.m. Deadline to Request Absentee Ballots in NC Election

Stakeholders in the Oct. 6 elections for Greater Echo Park and Silver Lake council seats are eligible.

Are you a stakeholder in either the Greater Echo Park Elysian or Silver Lake neighborhood councils?

Do you want to vote absentee in the Oct. 6 elections?

Then you must request a ballot online by 5 p.m. Thursday.

Voters can include residents, business owners, property owners or others with a "vested" interest in a council district.

Aspiring absentee voters in the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council election must also upload a scanned copy of some evidence of stakeholdership.

Silver Lake and Greater Echo Park Elysian are the only neighborhood councils in Region 7 that chose to offer the absentee voting option, according to Stephen Box, elections coordinator for the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, which oversees L.A.'s 96 neighborhood councils.

The following six neighborhood councils in the East Region (Region 7) will hold elections on Oct. 6:

Candidates have until midnight Thursday to file at the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment website.
