Sock Puppets to Perform 'The Golden Girls' in Echo Park

Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater will perform an episode of The Golden Girls from 1985 at The Echo on Saturday night.

Yes, it is just as ridiculous as it sounds. The puppet show mirrors the pilot episode where Blanche rents room in her house to Rose and Dorothy. Then when Dorothy's mother, Sophia, has to leave her retirement home, she moves in too.

The Echo provided the following bio of the Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater group:
If you were the kind of kid who grew up watching old sitcoms in
syndication after school, this is the sock puppet show for you. Take
sitcom pilot episodes add socks, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, live
musical performances and you have the making of a truly memorable series
of evenings in Echo Park.Follow sock puppet producers Glamour Puss and Frencie’s quest to
preserve the holy cannon of sitcoms through the ancient art of sock
puppetry. The Echo is the only venue in North America for this important
series.

We definitely agree with that last statement.

This event is 21 and over. Tickets are $10.

Doors open at 7 p.m.

Sock Puppet Sitcom Theater will do Roseanne on March 15 and Friends on April 19.
