Where to Grab A Coffee or Bite on Christmas

Merry Christmas all.

It's quiet out on those streets as, arguably, it should be.

But a quick loop around the 'hood  showed some good news for folks wanting a cup of coffee or last minute meal today.

Over in Echo Park proper, the is serving from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Just down the street, both and (under the same ownership) are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

and won't be open. That's true for , b and , who are saving it all for New Year's Eve.

up Echo Park Avenue is also closed for the day.

Over in Silver Lake, Gobi Mongolian BBQ House will be open from noon to 9 p.m. At 2827 W. Sunset Blvd., Gobi's Mongolian stir fry and mix of microbrew beverages are a great antidote to heavy eating.

The meats are light and the vegetables come from local farmers' markets.  Under the same ownership as Echo Park and Silver Lake's , Gobi is highly recommended as a great place for an easy meal.

Further down Sunset, will also be open all day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

So will theSilver Lake location at  3827 W. Sunset Blvd.

And the Casbah Cafe (3900 W. Sunset) is serving coffee, teas, pastries and sandwiches from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Finally, over at 534 N. Hoover St. at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue, the Cafecito Organico is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
