Blog: Echo Park's First Responders: First to Come, First to Go

Honoring local first responders is a bit hard to do while they are still on the job.

On June 16, the Greater Echo Park Elysian Neighborhood Council  honored Echo Park’s first responders.   Councilman Ed Reyes kicked off the event by presenting certificates of appreciation to the LAPD Northeast and Rampart division stations, LAFD Station #20 and the General Offices of Public Safety.

I represented the Mayor's Crisis Response Team and had a chance to corner one of the few women officers in attendance. Check out her picture here to my question on the ratio of women to men on the force. Her face says it all.

The evening ended appropriately--that is to say, abruptly--as all  LAFD staff were  called off on an emergency.
