Patch Blog: SIlver Lake Female Festival Starts With Vagina Monologues This Weekend

Echo Park Patch will be showcasing the many voices participating this year in the Silver Lake Female Festival, which is back by popular demand after its successful inaugeral year in 2011.  This year The Lyric Hyperion has decided to double the amount of programming and run the Fest until the end of April, dedicating its stage to the talented female artists of East L.A..

A talented and diverse cast of women are directed by Beth Lopes in “The Vagina Monologues” in a version which the producers promise audiences haven't seen before.  Eve Ensler's ground-breaking show has created forums to laugh, cry, and discuss the most mysterious of all female body parts.

"The Vagina Monologues" runs for three shows only on Saturday March 10th, 17th, 25th at 8PM.

On Friday night, the Female Festival has a special screening of "Until the Violence Stops"  a powerful film featuring playwright and activist Eve Ensler that documents how The Vagina Monologues grew into
an international grassroots movement called V-Day to stop violence
against women and girls. To accompany the film, the thirteen live
performers from the Vagina Monologues production created a short new
theater piece, "Voiced!", with more to say about the world in which we
live.

This special evening created for this year’s festival has three
Shows Only; Fridays March 9th and 16th at 8PM and Sunday March 25th at
7PM.
