Vintage Electronics Are The Future at Rewind in Echo Park

The store celebrates a year in business this week.

bills itself as a "recycled electronics store." Owned by Jen and Oscar Carpinteyro,

The storefront is chockful of old receivers, turntables, tape decks and other vintage electronica. LPs and CDs are also part of the mix.

Jen says what makes Rewind different is that you know the equipment you buy will work. They'll even help you set it up at home.

Oscar, who is from Puebla, Mexico, had already been selling used equipment on E-Bay.  But he had gotten tired of meeting clients in coffee shops and restaurants.  The storefront--at one time a dress store where Jen bought her wedding gown--was the solution.

Friends and customers gathered on Friday evening to congratulate Oscar and Jen on surviving a year in this economy. Many were small business owners, artists or DJs.

Jen and Oscar know not every community could support a store like theirs, so they're especially glad to be in Echo Park.
