Senor Fish Finally Coming to Echo Park

The popular Mexican restaurant chain will be opening its sixth location in downtown Echo Park.

Fans of Senor Fish won’t have to travel to Eagle Rock or downtown anymore. The venerable family-owned eatery is coming to Echo Park to open its sixth current location.

Owner Enrique Ramirez is already renovating the former location of on the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and Logan Street.

He’s also hoping to eventually expand down Logan into what is now the Santa Fe Tortilleria, with a patio and bar.

WANTS TO SERVE LIQUOR

Ramirez said he hopes to get a liquor license for the place, but wants to get things up and going first.

He said serving liquor isn’t essential for a Senor Fish to succeed. His restaurants in Alhambra and Pasadena don’t have licenses either, though he is working on it.

Ramirez had at one point been trying to take over a first-floor space at the new building at Alvarado and Sunset, where a vegetarian restaurant is now set to open.

But that deal fell through.

HAD HOPED TO BE AT SUNSET JUNCTION

Ramirez had also planned to have a booth at the cancelled Sunset Junction Street Festival to raise awareness of his new location.

But now he’s out $1,200 bucks and isn’t very optimistic about getting a refund.

He said he hopes whoever takes over the fair will give vendors and others who are out-of-pocket a discount NEXT year.

The Eastsider LA reports that Ramirez hopes to open within 3 months.
