This Week In Live Music

Live music picks for the week in and around the Eastside.

Wednesday - There are perks to living in a huge city, such as a mid-September Wednesday evening being the strongest night of the week's live music offerings.

In what promises to be a great night of music, Fleet Foxes and The Walkmen touch down at the Greek Theatre in Los Feliz. Fleet Foxes have made the jump from gigging in tiny rooms to theaters in just the span of a few short years. Something akin to a modern day combination of CSN&Y and the softer side of My Morning jacket, if ever their were a band suited to the environs of the Greek, it is Fleet Foxes. The always excellent Walkmen support. And if you haven't caught a Walkmen show in the past few years, you're in for a treat as the band weaves through torchy, New Orleans inflected 'in your cups' rock 'n roll anchored by frontman Hamilton Leithauser's soulful vocals.

The Moondoggies, Romany Rye and Post War Quartet gig at   for a cool $10. The Moondoggies boast some of the strongest Americana spun rock 'n roll curently coming out of the Pacific Northwest. Highly recc'd.

Twenty bucks gets you in the door at The Satellite, in Silver Lake, for the 90s flashback that is the 1-2 punch of Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven performing their albums Kerosene Hat and Key Lime Pie, respectively. Two bands, not to mention two albums, bolstered by both early 90s college rock, David Lowery and the days of MTV actually playing videos.

Free Moral Agents hit the stage at Low End Theory at The Airliner - Underground hip hop, grime and dubstep rule at the Low End Theory's weekly night at the Airliner. As the nights popularity has grown over the past 18 months (see: Thom Yorke's 'secret' DJ sets) so have the lines. Get there early. ($10)

Thursday - Incan Abraham and Mind the Gap perform at The Satellite. Rumor, ahem, has it The Album Leaf are performing a 'secret' show that night as well.

At the Echo PS I Love You and The Balkans take the stage, while downstairs at the Echoplex Teddybears, Win Win, Physical Forms and Teams perform. (that Teddybears song with Iggy Pop from a few years ago still jams by the way) Over at at the Bootleg Theater Robotanists, Baron Von Luxxury and Sleeping Bags perform.

Friday - Surfer Blood, Wounded Lion, Dante vs. Zombies and Hands at the Echoplex. At $16 this is a good deal if you are a Surfer Blood and/or fan of 'buzz bands.' We booked Surfer Blood in 2010 for the Waved Out fest and they crushed. Upstairs at the Echo it's Polls, Pek Pek, The Now and The Californian.  Eastern Conference Champions,  Duniven and Warships are at The Satellite.

Saturday - Don Henley / Lucinda Williams @ Greek Theatre ($62 - $175)
We Barbarians / ANR / Risers @ The Satellite ($12)

The Delta Mirror @ Bootleg ($10)

Sunday

Grand Ole Echo: Gram Jam @ The Echo (Free) - 5:00 PM
Zounds / Resist and Exist / Gestapo Khazi / No Age DJ set @ The Echo ($10)
Jerry Borge @ Bootleg ($8)
