Update: Morrissey at the Staples Center Postponed

Brit-pop legend delays all shows on his U.S. tour due to his mother's illness. His Los Angeles show is now among them.

Update: On Friday,  show promoter Goldenvoice postponed the remainder of Morrissey's U.S. dates.

That includes the Nov. 24 performance scheduled for the Staples Center.

LAist reports that Goldenvoice plans to reschedule the show. So hold on to your tickets.

What will be done with the huge billboard for the Nov. 24th show towering above Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park remains to be seen.

Earlier: Alas, Angelenos planning on seeing Moz November 24 at Staples Center have some sad news to contend with: The singer has postponed the remainder of his fall U.S. tour.

According to Pop & Hiss, the postponement is due to Morrissey's mother's illness.

Show promoter Goldenvoice says the shows will be rescheduled, and ticket holders should expect details on the new dates soon--so hang on to those tickets!

There were 22 shows left on the tour that are now slated to be rescheduled.

Plenty of rumors swirl around legendary singer/songwriter Morrissey wherever he goes, but one that has gotten a little traction Monday is untrue.

The news has hit that the crooner’s mother has fallen ill in England and Moz will be cancelling a few Midwest shows on his current U.S. tour.

Fortunately, we Eastside Angelenos are spared--for now--as the show at Downtown L.A.'s Staples Center on November 24th with fellow rock icon Iggy Pop and The Stooges will go on.

Morrissey, a crossover favorite with Latino audiences worldwide, is touring in support of his autobiography scheduled for a December 2012 release.

We had expected this to be the Angeleno melting-pot show of the season and we're hoping not to be disappointed.
