Mohawk Bend Hosts Los Angeles IPA Festival This Weekend

The Los Angeles IPA Festival kicks off Saturday at Mohawk Bend in Echo Park.

More than 60 California breweries will tickle the taste buds of Echo Park hop lovers this weekend as Mohawk Bend hosts the Los Angeles IPA Festival.

The beer festival, which will highlight the bitter, hoppy brews that California is known for, also includes a competition for best IPA.

"Craft beer lovers around here are pretty spoiled," the Los Angeles IPA Festival website states. "We have an ever-expanding plethora of great IPAs available to us and a growing number of places to get them. This festival is a gathering of some of the very best."

Brewers from around California were asked to submit one IPA that they were especially proud of for the festival. Those beers will then be tapped Saturday and Sunday to the delight of local beer lovers.

Breweries that have submitted IPAs to the event include local breweries such as Eagle Rock Brewing and Golden Road brewing. Breweries that normally do not distribute their draft beers in Los Angeles will also participate including Societe Brewing out of San Diego County, Alpine Beer Company and Kern River Brewing.

The event runs Nov. 16-17 and is free to attend. Table reservations can be made through Mohawk Bend's website.
