Woman Rescued in Apartment Fire in Rampart Village
The fire remained contained to her third-floor unit.
A woman was trapped by smoke as the third floor of a four-story apartment building burned in the Westlake District Monday.
Eighty-one firefighters were sent to 511 South Park View St. at 3:37
a.m. Monday, and battled the fire for 39 minutes, said spokesman Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department. They confined the flames mostly to the third-floor unit, he said.
A woman was trapped in her smoke-filled apartment, but firefighters
found her and brought her out into the fresh air, Humphrey said. She was treated by paramedics, and appeared to be OK.

A second person also was examined at the scene for a possible injury, but Humphrey said neither needed hospital treatment.
The cause of the fire was listed preliminarily as "accidental, with no signs of intentional cause,'' said LAFD spokesman Erik Scott. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
