Silver Lake Mural Lives On After Pop-Up Art Show

The mural is created as part of the L.A. Freewalls program.

 

An out-of-town artist has left Silver Lake with a nice gift.

It's a new mural painted on a wall on Sanborn Avenue, just south of Sunset.

Corey Hagberg, an artist living in Rockford, Illinois, installed it as part of the annual Cartwheel art show pop-up held recently at the PROJECT gallery in Hollywood.

Hagberg contributed paintings to the four-day event that brought together collectors and street, surf and other emerging artists.

But he's best known for his murals, having been been shaken down by Rockford police for his work, and was even busted at gunpoint in his own home for having spraypaints and other materials.

So he said he was glad to to have the opportunity to be painting THIS wall approximately legally as part of the LA Freewalls program.
