Portraits at The 22nd Annual Gran Limpieza in Elysian Valley

Marsh Street Park in Elysian Valley once again served as a cleanup site for The Great River Cleanup organized by Friends of the Los Angeles River.  We took the time to honor the enthusiastic volunteers who show up every year by taking some portraits.  While graciously pausing for our camera, some helped us complete the following sentence: "The Los Angeles River is ..."

...a habitat for fish and birds to live, but it is so full of trash that they cant live there. That's why we are cleaning it up—Penelope Boone

Other comments we heard were that the river was amaz-ulous, a great natural resource for our city, something you don't fully appreciate until you get close to it.

Were you there Sunday?  What did you come away with?  Even if you weren't, please add to the list by completing the sentence for us.
