Nathan Gawronsky, Neighbor

Hello,

I am originally from Los Angeles. Since 2010, I have been studying journalism at Santa Monica College, and have recently been enjoying my position on the student newspaper as Editor-in-Chief.

This past April, while I was covering a Board of Trustees meeting for The Corsair, a group of some 200 protesters clashed with police, and the end result was a pepper-spraying that hit 30 students and a 4-year old girl. The story went national overnight, and suddenly the campus was thrust into the media spotlight. It was a very incredible time for me, and definitely confirmed for me that being a journalist is my life's calling.

I began writing for Patch in 2011 after meeting Anthea Raymond at Santa Monica College. Since I live in Echo Park, I would take the occasional assignment there. However, I have recently started writing for Jared here in Brentwood, because I work in the area as an optician.

I like to think that I help people see both literally (by making glasses for them) and socially (by writing articles).

In my spare time, I also enjoy listening to music and playing the saxophone.
