I am a freelance journalist living in Silver Lake and exploring anything and everything east of Vermont Avenue. My particular area of interest is food and drink, but I'm happy to cover any news of interest to Eastsiders.

I write for a local audience at the LA Times, LA Weekly and Tasting Table, among others, and I enjoy explaining Los Angeles to a national audience at publications like BlackBook, Knopf and Budget Travel, where I once wrote a feature on LA's old-school taco trucks. Writing for non-Angelenos can remind us how lucky we are: editorial feedback for that taco truck story included the request "please explain 'tortilla.'"

When not writing, I can be found walking Griffith Park, the Verdugos, Silver Lake Reservoir, and the many urban hills in the area with my canine buddy Matilda; I also spend a lot of time thinking very seriously about Vietnamese food and liquor. Given that I'm a lifestyle writer, it counts as research.
