Located on Temple Street, the Echo Park Branch Library is one of two libraries in the neighborhood. In the early…More 1900s, the Echo Park Branch Library was established as a depository for discarded books in the old Echo Park playground clubhouse. Over the years, it occupied several different spaces, including buildings on Temple Street, Glendale Bouleavard and Laveta Terrace before returning to Temple Street in the mid 1990s.
The 17,543 square-foot facility has a multi-purpose room, a bookstore, two reading areas and a gallery wall to showcase work by local artists.
The interior doorway of the library features Alejandro de la Loza's sandstone and bronze relief, which depicts the cultural diversity of the city.
