@Cheryl-Any chance you'd share that? I'd feature it prominently. How cool is that!

My dad used take me on boat rides in Echo Park in the 1950's. I have lovely memories of this and…Read More am happy that the lake has been restored. I have a great photo of my uncle, John Murphy, one of the original Keystone Cops taken on the bridge over the lake sometime in the 1920's.

My guess is that "those G's" might relate to gentrification, but it's just a guess. I like…Read More Ralph's, and I'm not thrilled with all the negative stuff I've read about WF employee complaints or their political positions or what constitutes "organic" food. I hope they either label or refuse to stock GMO products. I just don't know enough yet. We could use a Trader Joe's up at Sunset/Echo Park in the old storefront next to Walgreens.

What does that mean those G's? What's that? Many items in whole food grocery are the same price…Read More or pretty competitive with the supermarkets and they are healthy!! Depends on what you buy. Exception is the produce, but many grocery items are reasonably priced.

Hi Will, I'm working on my grammar (English is not my native language, you'd guess) and on my…Read More attitude ( generally I post a positive comment before a negative one, but sometimes I fail...) Anyway, I'm happy to see I'm young, it's another thing L.A. is embracing: eternal youth!

"There's so much more happening in Echo Park then the Stones or celebrities eating…Read More pizza..."
Methinks young Roland needs to check his grammar as well as his attitude. LA is lousy with celebrities (though far from lousy), it's a fact of life we should all be used to and even embrace.

@Yes, Roland there is. And I think that's the real story I'm trying to get at. AR

I was told the premise for the show was that the lion had escaped and the star of the show,…Read More UrbanTarzan, had captured it at the river. It wasn't a real lion escape it was the premise for the show. It was a real lion though.
Save the Los Angeles River April 12, 2013 at 01:18 am
This was not a fake lion. It was a real lion. Filmed for a show on Spike TV called UrbanTarzan. It…Read More was filmed I think December 11th or 12th. I was at the river the day they filmed, but came after the lion had already been used in the filming. They still had the trailer for it there. Don't know if it was in the trailer or not as one the Legion Lane ladies told me they could only use it till like 1PM. When they left that evening they asked me if I had jumper cables as one of their vehicles would not start. I posted about this shoot on Save The Los Angeles River FB page on the day of the shoot.

So an African lion shows up in the Los Angeles river and there are no official reports of it?…Read More There's a mountain lion in Griffith Park and it's well documented. Sorry, I think it was faked. The lion might be real, but that it was roaming around unseen and when caught there are no news reports on it? Don't buy it.

Giving props to our local public schools! We all know that Ivanhoe helps bring up property values…Read More in the area, but on the Junction side of town, Micheltorena Elementary is having its renaissance. Our dual language program had people up at 3am hoping to get a spot. Property values rise and the neighborhood kids can speak two languages? Good stuff, people. Good stuff.

Equidistant between the "eclectic" and the "hipsters" is me, my wife and exactly…Read More 14,722 other residents scattered about Silver Lake and its various subneighborhoods who are decidedly neither and proudly so.

Went to see it yesterday. It is a nice home with a rare large flat yard (on the hillside). I don't…Read More think that they would have a chance of getting that price a few months ago, but there really are very few homes for sale in the area. A couple of homes on the street above (Redcliff) have gone for that much.

It seems like from the article that the City has went above and beyond their call of duty on this…Read More one. It appears that they won't give the club the permits that it keeps saying they need, thats the run around if I have ever heard it. Also it sounds like Mr. Edelson's problems stem more from a political source than a genuine public safety one. The article also implies that his competitor Mitchell Frank, who himself has quite a bit of political power, put a call into the Councilman's office. Is Mr. Frank an affected neighbor or is he bitter that he wasn't able to put up the money to buy Los Globos himself?
susieq April 1, 2013 at 02:04 pm
What other businesses does Edelson own? I want to know where to boycott.
