City OKs Beer and Wine at Fix

has received approval from the L.A. City Zoning Office to move forward with its plans for serving beer and wine.

Associate Zoning Administrator Maya E. Zaitzevsky granted the cafe's request for a conditional beer and wine permit in a letter dated Nov. 10, 2011.

Fix's Marc Galucci had faced a long battle with the community over the permit.

Council member Eric Garcetti and school board president Monica Garcia had come out against the permit, given its proximity to many schools.

The Zoning office says it will accept requests for an appeal of its decision until November 28 at 5 p.m.

Fix must also still get a license from the state to serve alcohol.
