10th Annual Cypress Park Veterans Memorial

Look for skydivers descending to deliver new flags to honor Cypress Park’s honored war dead and MIAs .l.

Speakers include Los Angeles City Councilmember Ed P. Reyes and other city and county leaders.

Local teen singer Genesee Hall will perform the national anthem, and ROTC from Franklin and Lincoln Heights high schools will supply honor guard contingents.

The event includes a free luncheon for veterans and their families and friends at the Rio de Los Angeles State Park.

Cypress Park Veterans Memorial is located at the intersection of Cypress Avenue and Pepper Avenue. Rio de Los Angeles State Park is located at 1900 San Fernando Road (L.A. 90065; enter off of Macon Street).

Glassell Park Community Walk

Councilmember Eric Garcetti leads this stroll through the neighborhood.

The walk will take place this Saturday, May 26, at 9:30 a.m. starting from Councilmember Garcetti’s Glassell Park  Satellite Office (3750 Verdugo Road).

City Workers Memorial

Tom LaBonge hosted a memorial for city workers killed in action Thursday at L.A. City Hall.

Weekend Closures

Buses and subway services in Los Angeles will run on a Sunday schedule.

Trash pick up will be on a usual schedule.

Most malls and stores will be open.

Federal, state, county and city offices, animal shelters, courts, schools and libraries will be closed.
