Griffith Park, Glassell Park Pools to Stay Open Through Labor Day

On Wednesday city recreation officials said they'd keep 33 "seasonal" pools open through the holiday.

Griffith Park Pool on Riverside Drive in Los Feliz and Glassell Park Pool on Verdugo Road would have both closed on Monday.

They're among the "seasonal" pools that the city's Department of Recreation and Parks had planned to shut down when LAUSD schools opened.

But now they and 31 other city pools will be open an extra three weeks, through Labor Day.

Los Angeles also has 13 year-round pools.

The l, an indoor facility on Colton Avenue, is now the only one in the area.

Glassell, once a year round pool, had already launched its own campaign for additional days as SaveGlassellPool.com.

The Echo Park Shallow pool on Bellevue Avenue was not filled this summer and its future remains unclear.
