Garcetti, Reyes, Perry to Tour Echo Park Lake

According to Eric Garcetti's office, a date for the grand opening of the park will also be announced Friday morning.

Los Angeles City councilmembers Eric Garcetti, Jan Perry and Ed Reyes will be at Echo Park Lake Friday morning for a tour of the nearly completed Echo Park Lake rehabilitation.

According to Diego de la Garza of Eric Garcetti's office, Garcetti will also announce the official date for the grand opening of the park at that time.

Garza told Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch that attendance will be limited to the media and VIPs as "the lake is still an active construction site."

Echo Park Lake lies within Garcetti's District 13 boundaries, which run through much of Echo Park and Silver Lake. Garcetti, of course, is in his final days of campaigning in the race for Mayor to be decided in the May 21 municipal election.

Officials from the Los Angeles Department of Public Works, which has overseen the Prop. O-funded rehabilitation project, have been reluctant to commit to a final opening date, though mid-May has been discussed as a possibility for several months.
