Excessive Heat Could Remain Through Weekend

How are you adapting?

 

You don't need Patch to tell you: it's bakin'. The temperature hit 88 degrees in Silver Lake Tuesday, and that's just a start.

Come tomorrow, we're under an excessive heat watch. Meteorologists say a high-pressure system may linger as long as Saturday, keeping a combination of monsoonal heat and humidity locked in along our mountain ranges.

According to the National Weather Service, that means temperatures won't peak until Friday, and the heat won't leave until Sunday. 

Both Southern California Edison and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power urge everyone to keep the thermostat no higher than 78 degrees to help avoid outages.
