Los Feliz Bookstore Showcases New Spin on Sportswriting
Top "Grantland" writers packed the house for a reading Tuesday at Skylight Books in Los Feliz. The publication is based in Downtown LA.
Bill Simmons is a smart guy. The sportswriter--perhaps best known for his NBA coverage--leveraged a podcast into a literary journal that mixes smarts, cultural trends and sports.
It's called Grantland.
It has over 75,000 "Likes" on Facebook alone.

On Tuesday night, Skylight Books hosted a reading of material from the second print issue of Grantland.

Grantland Deputy Editor Dan Fierman, recently transplanted from Brooklyn to the Eastside, moderated.
Contributors, including Echo Park resident Molly Lambert and staff writer, read and took questions.
Fierman told us that he's worked non-stop to get Grantland up and going.
We hope one day he'll have time to blog for us on things local--and maybe Lambert too, who was very worried about Tuesday's Dodger Stadium traffic.
