Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. The activity and sport of K9 Nose Work® is designed to develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It’s a great way for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. The art and practice of nose work has now reached dogs of all shapes and sizes and has made basic search dog skills available to companion dogs, creating a new urban sport arena for dog enthusiasts. Whether you are doing Nose Work as an activity to burn energy and have fun with your dog or you would like to eventually compete in the sport of K9 Nose Work® (govered by The National Association of Canine Scent Work®) this class is the perfect way to start!
Dogs of all sizes, shapes, breeds and temperaments are able to participate in K9 Nose Work® class. There are no obedience requirements or special skills needed to begin this fun sport! All you need is a HUNGRY and motivated dog (Please don't feed your dog the day of class or feed a reduced meal. And please don't tire out your dog before class). You will also need: a SIX FOOT LEASH, a CRATE (where your dog will rest between runs, all dogs must be crate-trained), a regular FLAT COLLAR or traditional harness, a quick-draw TREAT POUCH, a water BOWL and most importantly HGH VALUE TREATS! For toy motivated dogs please also bring your HIGH VALUE TOY!
