Seeing them make toast in a solar-powered toaster is another.
At just under two minutes, the video shows sixth graders at Micheltorena Elementary School in Silver Lake making the case for a solar-powered furture.
Check out ¡GO Solar!above, created with the help of Silver Lake filmmakers Keith Fulton and Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, who also helps out with the school's community garden.
The video is a finalist (one of seven) in Environment California's Los Angeles Solar Video Contest!
The winning submissions will be shown to city leaders to make the case for putting the sun to work for Los Angeles
