ECHO PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS ABOVE AVERAGE
Echo Park area elementary schools scored largely better than the district average on the latest Academic Performance Index (API).
The State Board of Education released the results Wednesday along with other data about school performance in the 2010-2011 school year.
The API measures the academic performance and growth of schools. The state target is 800, though scores can be as high as 1,000 and as low as 200.
For elementary schools, the API is based on the tests administered in May.
LAUSD AVERAGE API IS 728
The overall API average for the Los Angeles Unified School District was 728, a 19-point jump. All but one of the 8 schools—Micheltorena Elementary School—we surveyed here beat that figure.
