Groundbreaking on Headworks Reservoir Project Thursday

The project could have a major impact on the future of the Silver Lake Reservoir.

Councilman Tom LaBonge, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power General Manager Ron Nichols, Craig Collins of the Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy and other officials will gather near Forest Lawn Thursday to break ground on the Headworks Reservoir Project.

According to a press release from LaBonge's office, the Headworks Project is "a critical component of LADWP’s plan for compliance with drinking water regulations."

As many of you already know, the River Supply Conduit Project has been under construction for the last two years. Yet many residents do not understand what the pipeline project is all about. This visit to the site of Headworks on Forest Lawn Drive will give you a good understanding of this massive and historic infrastructure project that will be delivering drinking water to the people of Los Angeles.

The ground-breaking ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. at 6001 West Forest Lawn Drive.
