Silver Lake Council Leads in Race to Recruit Board Candidates

With the filing deadline looming, a total of 19 local stakeholders have stepped up so far to run for seats on 6 local councils.

Now's the chance to step up and serve your community as a representative on your local neighborhood council.

Six councils in our area have been recruiting candidates for their boards. The official filing period opened Aug. 7

It closes Sep. 6.

Based on data provided by Region 7 election chair Jay Handal, there are now a total of 19 candidates declared for the Oct. 6 voting--18 are confirmed.

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council leads the way, with 9. Atwater Village and Griffith Park each have 4 candidates on board. Echo Park and Elysian Valley each have one. 

According to Handal, if there are not enough candidates to fill all open seats, several different processes can come into play.
