Photos: I See Hawks in L.A. Visits Occupy L.A.

Long-time Echo Park resident and musician Paul Lacques sent us the attached photos of his band performing Friday at Occupy L.A.

The alternative-country band I See Hawks in LA recorded its eponymous first album in Echo Park in 1999.

The band still has close ties to the area, and appears regularly at the Echo and Echoplex, most recently as part of the .

On Friday, the group headed downtown, for an appearance at the Occupy L.A. stage.

Paul Lacques, one of the founders, sent us the accompanying photos.

He's performing with co-founder Rob Waller and bassist Marc Doten.

Photos are by Victoria Jacobs and Mary-Austin Klein.

Said Lacques in an email:

It was very interesting and crazy down there, great potential for channeling people's needs and hopes, and eventually organizing. Quite rewarding to do our political songs. It felt right.

Seems like Occupy L.A. may be coming into its own as a venue for Echo Park and Silver Lake musicians.

Anyone else out there played the stage or planning to?
