Photo: Eric Garcetti Votes in Echo Park

Gary Leonard captured the mayoral candidate and former Echo Park resident as he checked into his polling place Tuesday morning at Allesandro Elementary School on Riverside Drive in Echo Park.

According to Leonard, the Los Angeles City Council District 13 rep struggled a bit as he tried to remove his ballot from the machine, where it got jammed.

Silver Lake-resident Garcetti spent much of the day on the run, with a jam-packed published schedule that was meant to include a stop at Echo Park's Two Boot's Pizza .

We tried to meet him there, but assumed he had to prioritize, when it was 6 p.m., about 15 minutes after his scheduled arrival, and he'd failed to show.

He was also scheduled to make a stop about an hour later in Atwater Village, at Link n Hops on Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village.

Garcetti's election night party kicks of at 9 p.m. in Hollywood at the Palladium.  His former deputy Mitch O'Farrell, a candidate in the race for Garcetti's Council District 13 seat, kicks off at 8 p.m. nearby on Cahuenga at St. Felix on Cahuenga.

John Choi stays close to his recently adopted home in Echo Park at Mohawk Bend.
