Tonight: Neighborhood Councils to Discuss Potential Ban on Feeding Homeless

Two local neighborhood council committees will meet Thursday night to discuss a motion made late last year by two LA City Councilmen that would outlaw feeding the homeless in public areas.

The Silver Lake Neighborhood Council Education Committee and the Greater Echo Park Neighborhood Council Schools, libraries and community organizations committee will hear presentations by an aide from Councilman Tom LaBonge's office, representatives from the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic and Frank Tamborello of Hunger Action LA.

There will also be time made for public comment.

LaBonge and local Councilman Mitch O'Farrell launched a motion together that would restrict offering the homeless food to places like shelters and soup kitchens.

The meeting is being held at 7 p.m. at Logan Elementary School, 1711 Montana St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
