Six new City Council members set to assume office Monday will have their ceremonial swearings-in during Eric Garcetti's mayoral inauguration Sunday outside City Hall, including Mitch O'Farrell.

O'Farrell will succeed Garcetti in representing the 13th District, which stretches from Hollywood to Glassell Park, where O'Farrell lives, and also includes Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz. O'Farrell was a district field deputy on Garcetti's council staff.

O'Farrell will also be holding his own swearing-in ceremony Saturday at Marsh Street Park. Anthony Portantino, a former Assemblyman, will serve as the master of ceremonies. The swearing-in event will be followed by a poetry reading and a 7:30 p.m. reception at the RAC Design Building, which is a three-minute walk from the park along the Los Angeles River.
