LADWP Gets More Money for Home Energy Efficiency

The agency was awarded nearly $4 million to help low-income homeowners with weatherization.

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power nearly $4 million extra in economic stimulus funds to expand its weatherization program.

The funds bring the total awarded to the agency for the program to $8.5 million dollars.

The funds were awarded under the DOE's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The LADWP Weatherization Assistance Program is for low-income customers who live in single-family homes in specified areas of the City of Los Angeles.

Projects can cover the entire building, its heating and cooling systems, its electrical system and electrical appliances.

The program continues through March 2012, or until funds run out. Eligibility is  based on location and income
