Howard Dean Endorses Eric Garcetti for Mayor

According to Eric Garcetti's campaign office, Dean will be in town Wednesday for a fundraiser for the Silver Lake resident's campaign.

Here are the first few paragraphs of the official announcement from the Eric Garcetti campaign about the Howard Dean endorsement Monday:

Eric Garcetti announced Monday that Gov. Howard Dean, the former Democratic National Committee Chair who revolutionized online and grassroots campaigning, has endorsed his campaign for Mayor and will appear at a Garcetti for Mayor event on Wednesday.

Garcetti also announced the launch of the new www.ericgarcetti.com,which features groundbreaking engagement tools and is fully integrated with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. He noted that the runoff election is on May 21, 2013, exactly one year from today.

"I know Eric as someone with a global perspective who has been a national progressive champion for our party and the issues we care about. Most importantly, I have seen how his values have translated into action on behalf of the people of Los Angeles on a citywide and grassroots level," Dean said.

Garcetti represents parts of Echo Park, Silver Lake and Los Feliz. He will term out with 12 years of city council service next year.
