Griffith Park Resource Board Holds Biannual Meeting

The group helps park goers to stay updated on projects and upgrades going on around the park.

The Griffith Park Resource Board met last week at the Travel Town Museum for their biannual meeting.

 

Hosted by Councilman Tom LaBonge, the meeting serves as an opportunity to update park goers on projects that affect and improve the park.

Updates discussed during the meeting include:

  • The new “Lock it, Hide it and Keep it” signs, placed around the park to discourage theft from vehicles. According to LAPD Senior Lead Officer Leo Rey, cars are broken into between three to five times a week during the summer.
  • The Merry-Go-Round parking lot was repaved
  • Project Manager for Proposition K, Neil Drucker talked about improvements to the park involving road improvements, trail signage throughout the park, the installation of more restrooms and trail improvements.
  •  Arthur Saginian, project manager for the Headworks Reservoir Project, said Zoo Drive will be closed until the end of July because of construction of river supply conduits.
  • The Griffith Park South Water Recycling Project, which will bring recycled water to the Roosevelt Golf Course, is still in its design stages but is expected to be completed by September 2016.
