Gov. Brown Signs Cedillo-Sponsored 'Dream Act'

The legislation authored by Echo Park assembly representative Gil Cedillo makes illegal immigrants who attend state colleges and universities eligible for financial aid.

UPDATE:  The governor's office has confirmed that he has signed the "California Dream Act" giving illegal immigrants access to state financial aid.

According to the L.A. Times:

Under AB 131, illegal immigrants who are accepted into state universities can receive, starting in 2013, Cal-Grant assistance, which last year provided grants averaging $4,500 apiece to more than 370,000 low-income students.

It gives illegal immigrants access to financial aid if they attend state colleges and universities.
