Garden to Celebrate Aqueduct's 100 Years

The groundbreaking ceremony takes place Friday at 8 a.m.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Los Angeles Aqueduct Centennial Garden, one of the major changes to the area around the Mulholland Memorial Fountain (3360 Riverside Drive), will take place Friday morning at 8 a.m.

The garden is expected to complement other changes to the grounds, and all of these efforts are designed to mark the 100-year anniversary of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, according to a release from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

The garden will feature plants, walking paths, park benches and educational signs. It will also display "a decomposed granite (DG) path that depicts the Aqueduct’s alignment starting from Mono Lake to Los Angeles, as well as a 10-foot diameter riveted steel section of the original Aqueduct pipe as interactive display and monument to the engineering marvel’s centennial anniversary."
