Organizing Meeting: Westlake Neighborhood Council

The Westlake North Neighborhood Council will hold its organizational meeting this Thursday, October 13, at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the Rampart Police Station, 1401 West Sixth Street, at the corner of Valencia Street.

The WNNC was recently certified by the Los Angeles Board of Neighborhood Commissioners, and joins 94 other community governing boards in the city to advise the City Council and other agencies on concerns of the residents and businesses within the Westlake area.   Neighborhood Councils were an important provision of the Los Angeles City Charter, passed by the city's voters in 1999.

Each local council has a board of directors which holds public meetings every month, as well as various committee meetings, whose sessions are also open to the public, and announced in advance.
