Eric Garcetti, Club Called Rhonda are Two of Paper Magazine's Finest

The list also included two from Eagle Rock and and one from Highland Park, but no one from Echo Park. What is going on?

New York-based Paper magazine has cast its jaded eye on Los Angeles and put together an "LA's Dirty Dozen."

According to Paper,

[T]hese 12 individuals have looked outside of the Tinseltown trappings to achieve their fame ... [and] prove that you don't need to walk the traditional walk of fame to make it in L.A.

Silver Lake politician Eric Garcett, a mayoral hopeful, is among them.

So are Gregory Alexander and Loren Granic of the poly-sexual monthly dance party A Club Called Rhonda that long inhabited El Cid on Sunset and now lives downtown as Rhondavous.

As LAist notes, the inclusion affirms Garcetti's status as not only "the People's Politician" but also as the hipsters' politician.

It may also explain why Echo Park is unrepresented on Paper's list. Perhaps he's consided a twofer, having recently moved to Silver Lake from Echo Park.
